Christmas Community Building Events

 In Apex

Apex Tenants from the Springtown Road and Knockena areas of Derry/ Londonderry got involved in the recent Christmas community building events delivered through the Peace IV funded Housing Associations Integration Project (HAIP).

As part of the Housing Association’s Integration Project, tenants from Knockena and Sheriff’s Glen areas worked alongside Apex’s Good Relations Officer, Emer McElhinney to help design and plan community building events to get their local communities together to celebrate the festive period.

There was fun for all the family at the events with Santa’s Elves ensuring “Elf and Safety” was in check whilst children enjoyed arts and crafts.  Santa also made an appearance and Mrs Claus entertained everyone with storytelling and carol singing.

Diane Polland, a tenant from Sheriff’s Glen comments “We want to thank Apex for helping us to make our wee gathering a successful night, it was a truly magical night”.

Eilish Doherty Apex Housing Manager said “It has been wonderful to see tenants come together to help plan these events.  A lot of work and effort has been shown by the tenants and Apex appreciates their input and time in planning these very worthwhile events for families to celebrate Christmas as a community.  It has been an excellent opportunity for tenants to get to know their neighbours and work alongside each other.  We have enjoyed two lovely evenings with our tenants and look forward to working alongside them in future to plan more events”.
